> How to create and organize tasks and kanban boards in Clatri: status, priority, due date, assignee, subtasks, drag-and-drop and managing them by chat.

Tasks in Clatri are units of work with status, priority, due date and an editable description body. They can live **standalone** (no board), inside a [page](https://docs.clatri.com/en/space/spaces/), inside a kanban board column, or as a sub-task of another task.

## Creating a task

Three paths:

- **From chat with the Administration agent**: *"create a task to call the plumber next week"* and it's created. If you don't say which board, the agent relies on each Space's name and on each board's name and description to pick the most plausible destination — if none fits, it creates the task as **standalone** (no board or column). It always tells you **where** it created it so you can correct it (*"I moved it to Home/Repairs"*).
- **From a page**: inside the editor, open the floating block bar and tap **Create board**. Individual tasks aren't created inline inside pages — they're created from a board or standalone.
- **From a board**: inside a column, the "+" button creates a new card. Cards are real tasks — tap the card and you enter the full detail.

You can also see all your pending tasks globally from *Upcoming tasks* on the Administration dashboard, grouped by *Overdue / Today / Tomorrow / This week / Later / No date*.

## Fields

Each task has:

| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| **Title** | Multiline text editable inline on the detail screen. |
| **Description** | Editor with headings, lists, quotes, code, etc. Same engine as pages. |
| **Status** | Four: `To do`, `In progress`, `Done`, `Cancelled`. Changed from the properties card. The *Status* row is the only place — there's no checkbox in the header (intentional, to avoid confusing it with a destructive act). *Cancelled* is what you use when something stopped making sense but you don't want to erase the trail. |
| **Priority** | Four levels: `No priority`, `Low`, `Medium`, `High`. There's no *Urgent* level — if you ask the agent for an "urgent" task, it records it as **High**. |
| **Due date** | Date picker. Appears in the *Upcoming tasks* dashboard list grouped by bucket. |
| **Assignee** | A contact from your [unified directory](https://docs.clatri.com/en/space/people/). The same contact can be assignee here and a counterparty on a Money expense. |
| **Subtasks** | Dedicated section in the detail (they are not inline blocks of the description — they're real tasks with their own row). Each subtask inherits context from the parent task (board, column). |

## Boards

A board is a kanban view with columns. Creating one generates three default columns — **To do**, **In progress** and **Done** — because a one-column kanban isn't a kanban: you'd have nowhere to move anything. From there the columns are editable: you can add the ones you need (*Blocked*, *In review*, whatever) and reorder or rename them.

Boards can hang from:
- **A page** — they render as an embedded inline card.
- **A Space directly** — useful when the board is the main content of that workspace.

Boards also have a short **description** — a field Spaces don't have. The agent reads it to resolve ambiguity when you ask it to create a task without saying where: if your *Repairs* board has the description *"Pending fixes at the house: plumbing, electricity"*, the agent uses it to pick that board when you say *"create a task to fix the faucet"*. It's the most worthwhile place to write context.

**Drag-and-drop**: long-press on a task card and drag it to another column. The destination column highlights with a *primary* border while the card is floating. Releasing drops the task in the last position of the new column.

## Contextual actions

Long-press on a task in any listing (dashboard, board, embedded page) opens an iOS 26 liquid glass menu with:

- **Mark as done** / **Mark as pending** (smart toggle based on status)
- **Open** — navigates to the detail
- **Delete** (destructive action, in red)

From the task detail, the "···" button in the header opens the same menu with the **Delete** option (with confirmation dialog).

## Via chat

The agent can create, move, assign, reschedule, complete and delete tasks, and also create and edit boards and columns. Examples:

- *"create a high-priority task for tomorrow: review contract"*
- *"move 'call the bank' to In progress"*
- *"assign 'buy gift' to my sister"*
- *"delete the task to paint the wall"*
- *"find me tasks with 'meeting' in the title"*
- *"create a 'Moving' board in my Personal Space with columns Pack / Move / Unpack"*

## How it relates to the rest

- The **calendar** automatically shows tasks with due dates as virtual events.
- **Money** can show expenses linked to a task's assignee (via the shared contact directory).
- System notifications alert you when a task hits its due date, configurable globally from [Notifications](https://docs.clatri.com/en/notifications/).
